I can see you!!
Any day, any time.
Ha ha. No I can’t. Maybe I should get some better site analytics software?! So, I just had a meeting about my thesis and I was talking about.....making stalking more normal. Wait....no....that’s not what I mean...I mean....ok, you know how people post photos to Flickr or blog or whatever, and they post all this stuff PUBLICLY, right. The whole point of putting it online is to let other people see it. For example, I blog...FOR YOU. I mean, not JUST you but...you know what I mean.
Anyway, despite the fact that many of us post stuff publicly, I’ve noticed there is still this strange social stigma around it all. Like people are embarrassed to say “I looked at your Flickr” or “I looked at your blog.” Why is that? Sometimes I feel the same way. But, what is it I expect the Flickr’er (is that a word? Flickr-er?) or author or blogger to say? “You looked at my “_insert thing they posted publicly here_” Yer so lame!! Stalker!! Don’t you have better things to do??!!” Why, if some mean blogger said that to ME, I would just say something snappy right back like “um....no...I...um...uh...was just bored or something...so I looked at it...after I googled you...on accident....yeah.”
Anyway, next time YOU don’t want to admit to looking at something dear
stalker reader, just remember I can see you anyway, so you mise well admit it. (just kidding i can’t. for real, I can’t.) And if you STILL feel weird about it, go pick up a “People” magazine and dive into the lives of stars. That’s totally normal.
I guess I should go out now. Besides, I know you don’t care about my thesis, you’d rather see pictures at the bars.
Last August we had a big fest here in San Jose: Zero One, a sort of west coast Ars Electronica. We plan to do it again in 2008. I told the main organizer, Joel Slayton (he runs the art/tech program at SJSU) about your eTel demo on March 1. That and Sharkbites would be great for the public to see--or whatever you are doing that far ahead.
