Trick, Treat, Detention.
November 1st, 2006
One Halloween, when I was about twelve my mom said to me “if I just buy you a bunch of candy, will you please not trick-or-treat?” Despite her bribe and all those “alternative Halloween” events put on by church and private school-- nothing has been able to kill my Halloween spirit. Here’s a recap of this year.
We’ll start with TNO (TNO = “Thursday Night Out” for ITP) which I only mention because I would like to publicly announce that I finally bought Alex a beer for some bet I supposedly “lost.” Instead of thank you, upon handing him his beer Alex replied “took your time lady-bird.” Pshhhh. On to Saturday…
Fred from my Game Design class was nice enough to host a Halloween party at his phat pad in Soho. That’s him in the hazmat. (Photo credit- Fred Benson). Apparently Fred is some sort of Halloween celebrity. He was written up in Gothamist as ”Graduate Student and Halloween Enthusiast“ What??
Anyway, the party was lots of fun.
Kate spent most of her time turning heads in this masquerade ball gown.
While I stood in the corner talking to the ugly guy. Ugh. Why is it always this way? We eventually left to hang out with some other ghouls.
Like Dr. Evil who was crashing some Google party.
Tikva dressed as a Lite Brite, was a big hit with the Googlers. “Ooohhh electronics strapped on your body! Weee loooove it!”
I went as a bunny. No, not a “slutty bunny.” Just a bunny. I saved slutty for Saturday.
Saturday was Catholic School Girls’ night out.
The night began with drinks and prayers at my house.
Then on to homeroom at Swift.
After homeroom it was time for recess, where we played lots and lots of dodgeball. Kate and I can beat almost anybody at dodgeball. Anybody except this one guy Pecan Jackson-- he can throw like eight balls at once.
After recess, we went back to class, where Kate started dancing on her desk.
Of course I didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so I hopped on too.
We ended up drinking and sneaking boys on campus.
As you can guess- these activities landed us both in detention. Sighhh… Kate you are such a bad influence. When class was dismissed, we took the long way home through the LES and stopped by a few places to see some of our classmates. I guess that’s about it.
I ended up with a lunch box full of detention slips, but it was worth it for all that fun.
